We Didn’t Start Slightly Offline to Sell T-Shirts

We did it to sell hats.

Just kidding.

There are moments in life that stay with you forever, and it’s funny how rarely they happen while looking at a screen.

When we think back to the best memories we’ve collected over the years, they aren’t tied to emails, social media, or notifications. They’re tied to places, people, and the feeling of being completely present. A sunrise after driving through the night. A hockey road trip with friends. Coffee by the lake before everyone else wakes up. Sitting around a campfire long after the fire has stopped being the reason you’re still outside.

Those moments don’t need to be extraordinary. In fact, most of them aren’t. They’re simply the ones where we were paying attention.

Slightly Offline grew from that realization.

We’re not trying to convince anyone to abandon technology. We rely on it every day ourselves. It allows us to work remotely, build a business from Finland, stay in touch with people around the world, and create the very things you’re reading today.

But somewhere along the way, we noticed how easy it is to let the small moments pass by unnoticed. It’s easy to be physically present while mentally somewhere else.

We wanted a reminder to choose differently every now and then.

That’s where the name came from.

Not fully online. Not fully offline. Slightly Offline.

To us, it means making space for the things that deserve our full attention. It might be an afternoon on the golf course, a mountain trail you’ve never walked before, an evening spent fishing, a weekend road trip without a fixed destination, or simply leaving your phone in your pocket while talking to someone you care about.

The idea isn’t to escape modern life. It’s to experience more of it.

When we started talking about building a clothing brand, we realized that clothing has always been part of our favorite memories. There’s a hoodie that’s been on countless road trips. A cap that’s somehow ended up in every holiday photo. A jacket that still reminds us of a particular autumn hike.

Clothing doesn’t create those experiences, but it quietly becomes part of them.

That’s the role we want Slightly Offline to play.

We’re not interested in releasing as many products as possible or chasing every seasonal trend. We’d rather create fewer things that people genuinely enjoy wearing, and build a company that people feel proud to support.

Our hope is that Slightly Offline becomes more than a logo on a shirt. We hope it becomes something people associate with slowing down, getting outside, trying something new, and making time for the people around them.

This Journal will follow that same philosophy.

Sometimes we’ll share the stories behind our collections. Other times we’ll write about road trips, places that inspire us, people we’ve met, or ideas that have changed the way we see the world. We don’t want this to become another stream of marketing posts. We want it to be a place worth visiting, even if you never buy anything from us.

If you’re here at the beginning, thank you for joining us.

We’re excited to see where this journey leads.
